Shampoo/Conditioner Review: Joico K-Pak Reconstruct

joicokpak_group1.jpgI'd first heard about the Joico brand hair products in a Juicystar07 (youtube beauty guru) video about a year back. After hearing her rave about how amazing the shampoo and conditioner are I looked into buying it only to find out...it's stinking expensive! Then and even now I've never been that picky about the hair products I use. The shampoo I use is usually what ever I pick up at my Target that smells yummy! It wasn't til very recently I noticed my hair looking kind of dry, dull and over all damaged. Which doesn't come as a surprise since I went through a phase where I died my hair constantly. In order to fix my hair before it got worse I needed a miracle product and at last gave into the hype and bought the Joico K-Pack Recontructor shampoo and conditioner.

I'd have to say the only thing I did not like about these products was the price! I bought a 10.1 oz bottle at Ulta for $13.50 which doesn't seem like a lot but when you do the math that price really adds up! I wash my hair every other day and I use about a quarter size amount of both the shampoo and conditioner. You'd be surprised how fast I run out of hair products! It is definitely a hard product to keep up with if you continue to use it but in all honestly? I think it's worth it.

4093.jpg My first impression of the shampoo was that it had a very nice light floral scent. I dislike shampoos with strong fruity scents because I feel like the smell over powers or can clash with my perfume. Another thing I noticed was a little goes a long way! Just a quarter sized amount lathers really well and yet doesn't foam like crazy. Over all the shampoo did just what I wanted: removed the oil from my hair, left my hair feeling softer and gave me a very fresh and clean feeling unlike any other shampoo I've ever used.

The conditioner I was a little more concerned about. It was very light and not as thick as most repair treatments I've used. Since I was looking for a miracle product I was very skeptical that it would be moisturizing enough to repair my dry hair. Much to my surprise I saw instant results! Even as I washed the conditioner out of my hair I noticed my hair was super soft and tangle free. Once dried my hair appeared shiny and more healthy looking! I was very impressed! I can see this product (as well as the shampoo) being a favorite for a very long time if not for life.

Over all I had and am having a great experience with these products and look forward to trying/reviewing other products from the Joico line! I would recommend the K-Pak reconstruct to anyone with dry or damaged hair that wants clean and healthy looking hair without that weighed down feeling and annoyingly messy thick products.

So Want More Subscribers on Youtube...My Advice!

Ok so I'm not saying that I'm super popular on youtube or anything like that. 520 subs doesn't make me some kind of youtube goddess but I like to think I am pretty observant and I feel that 6 years of watching beauty gurus succeed and 3 months of making my own videos I have come to realize that there are the RIGHT ways of making fans and then there are the WRONG ways.

1. SUB4SUB- (agreeing to subscribe a channel if they sub yours as well) DON'T do it!! Ok sure it's a quick way to get subscribers but its also a fast track to haters and remember, they can unsubscribe just as fast as they subscribe. Think about it, would you rather have subscribers who subscribe because they like your videos and want to see more? Or someone who just subscribed to you so their subscriber count goes up? The whole point of subscribing is for people to remember channels they like and get updates when new videos are uploaded. (Ps odds are the person you swapped subs with will probably see these updates as a reminder to unsubscribe later)

2. Don't Spam Other People's Channels- Don't be that girl (or guy) that comments successful channels with "Hey! I have a channel too! Go check it out and subscribe!!" or something along those lines hoping that that channels fans will suddenly jump ship. Not only will it annoy that channels owner but it will make you look needy and desperate (and nobody wants that!).

3. Stay Positive!- This step is very important! If you're looking for more subscribers do NOT post negative comments on other peoples videos. Not only will you upset that person but there fans will be no fans of yours. Not to mention you will set an image for yourself as a cyber bully and jerk. This goes for hitting dislike as well. Hitting dislike on a video that isn't bad so that person gets discouraged is NOT nice! I shouldn't even have to say this but I've seen it a TON on videos like contest entries. Girls feel like they have a better chance if they dislike other peoples videos. Don't do it! Remember you aren't competing with anyone. Support other peoples channels, there is more then enough room on the internet!

4. Shout Outs- Don't ever give someone a shout out and then expect them to return the favor (without talking to them about it first). Also, mentioning someone in your video is very generous and does help your image but do this with caution. Don't make a shout out unless your ready to be swamped with people begging for one also. Play it fair. Don't promise someone a shout out if you're not ready to fulfill it. That's bad image.

5. Patience- Don't get discouraged if it doesn't seem like your subscriber count is going up. It's not common for fame to come over night (unless you're rebecca black) but that kind of fame is fleeting. Make videos because you enjoy them and if others like them too? That's just a plus!

6. Be Yourself- I know I know. It sounds cheesy but I swear it works! Nobody wants to see an exact copy of somebody they're already subscribed to. What's the point? Be yourself and bring something new to the table. Remember that nobody has your face or your personality. You're a one of a kind and if you embrace that others will too.

7. Video Quality- Maybe your not getting subscribers because your potential fans can't see you or hear you! You don't need a fancy hd camera and sound system. Just speak loudly and clearly and film in a spot with good lighting. The cheapest and best lighting there is? The sun! Natural lighting works wonders.

Review: Aveeno Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser

Buying facial cleansers can be kind of difficult. For me most of the time it's more about how pretty the bottle is. I've tried so many different drugstore cleansers. Which is why I'm going to start doing blog reviews of the different cleansers I try so you don't have to waste your money trying them out! You're welcome ;)

I'm going to start with my most recent pick: Aveeno Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser

First off what it says it will do: "This foaming cleanser helps improve skin's tone and texture and clears up blemishes without overdrying, leaving skin soft, smooth and even-looking. this mild formula won't clog pores and is gentle enough for sensitive skin".

I have oily skin and not very much acne (a zit here and there on occasion) So what I look for in a cleanser is something to remove my makeup, prevent breakouts and leave my skin feeling fresh an clean. My first impression of this product was that I really liked the foam. The pump let out just enough product and I liked how easily it lathered. It is definitely gentle and I think would work really well for sensitive skin. That's about where the good  remarks end. After washing my face with this I never got the refreshing clean feeling you get with a really good cleanser. It took off all visible makeup but I still felt like my face wasn't completely clean. I used this product for about a month and a half and it did not do a very good job preventing acne. It definitely didn't break me out (like I said, it's very gentle) but it didn't stop the few spots from appearing.

Overall I think this cleanser would be great for people with sensitive skin to use as a morning cleanser. For acne prevention and makeup removal on the other hand I would find a different cleanser.

Eggs for Beauty!

Eggs may be a healthy and delicious breakfast but did you know that what your eating could possibly be used as a beauty product? Eggs are full of proteins which you can benefit from in many ways if used correctly.

-Long, Strong and Shiny Hair!
Eating eggs provides the body with proteins that are necessary for hair growth but you don't have to eat them in order to have healthy and shiny hair! Apply raw egg yoke to dry hair and let sit. Rinse with COLD water (hot water will cook the eggs in your hair! EW) and wash with your normal shampoo and conditioner! Your hair will be left feeling soft and noticeably more shiny!

-Clear Toned Skin!
Egg masks are a great all natural way to clear and tone the skin! Beat egg whites and apply to a clean makeup-less face. Let it dry and rinse with COLD water. Your skin will feel tighter and pores will appear smaller!

So next time you pick up a carton of eggs consider these tips and crack your way to clear skin and shiny hair! (crack your way HA cheesy egg joke :D )

Multi-Use Miracle Products!-Vaseline

If you're like me and you love to watch makeup collection videos on youtube it can be a bit discouraging when you look back on your own collection. Truth is accumulating a large makeup collection is something that takes time and MONEY. This is where multi-use products come in handy! You don't need a huge stash of makeup to completely beautify yourself! All you need is a few products that can do everything! One of my favorites?: Vaseline. You can have a whole assortment of body butters, creams, lotions and serums but that all adds up and doesn't measure up to the moisturizing power of Vaseline petroleum jelly! There are so many uses for this stuff and you can get a large container for under $12! And believe me, this stuff lasts a LONG time. Here is just a few things that Vaseline can do:

1. Soften chapped lips!- Rather then applying and reapplying chapsticks and glosses apply a small amount of vaseline jelly to your lips! It stays put and is extremely moisturizing! Apply before bed and wake up to soft moisturized lips!
2. Cure rough dry skin!- Dry elbows and knees? Normal lotions just don't cut it. Apply Vaseline to all your stubborn dry spots and be instantly relieved. I like to put on a small amount after a hot shower to lock in moisture. The perfect solution for winters ashy skin.
3. Crave long eyelashes?- This tip is debatable. Many people swear that by applying Vaseline to their     eyelashes at night it makes their eyelashes grow fast and long.
4. Perfect brows!- Keep your eyebrows in place with a small amount of Vaseline (too much and your brows will look greasy). This works great as a clear brow gel so no need to invest in a pricey brand name one!
5. Perfect manicure- Use to soften cuticles for perfect looking nails.
6. Protect skin from dyes!- Before dying hair apply a thin amount of Vaseline to your hairline and ears. This creates a barrier between your skin and the staining dyes

And so much more!! Comment below with your uses for Vaseline!
